About D3 Tennis Reference
Coverage
D3 Tennis Reference is built around Liberty League men's and women's tennis beginning with the spring 2021 season. The database crawler uses the Liberty League central statistical archive for standings, team schedules, official conference markers, player statistics, tournament results, and box scores. Member-school athletics sites are used for roster identity, biography/profile links, and the newest exact official player headshot when one is publicly available.
Historical scoring
The calculation engine supports both formats that appear in the archive: the historical nine-point format (three separately scored doubles points plus six singles points, first team to five) and the modern seven-point format (one combined doubles point plus six singles points, first team to four).
Win Shares & Loss Shares
Win Shares distribute a team's season wins among players according to their positive pre-clinch effect on the team's probability of winning each conference dual. Loss Shares do the same for negative contribution toward team losses.
Singles contributions belong to the singles player. Doubles contributions are split equally between partners. A result after the dual is mathematically clinched has zero team-outcome value. If the official box score omits finish order, the engine averages exactly across every feasible within-phase finishing order instead of inventing one.
At the season level, team Win Shares sum to that team's conference wins and team Loss Shares sum to its conference losses. If every conference dual for a team-season cannot be safely parsed, WS/LS are withheld rather than guessed.
Data sources
The site is generated from public official Liberty League and member-school athletics pages. Every player page keeps links back to the official profile and box scores used by the database.
